Archaeology of Boones Landing

October 26, 2024 | 1pm-4pm
Boones Ferry on the Willamette in 1924
The Wilsonville Historical Society and City of Wilsonville Parks & Recreation invite you to the Archaeology of Boones Landing event on Saturday October 26, from 1-4pm. The afternoon will include:

  • Guest speaker & archeologist Michelle North discussing the findings of the Willamette Cultural Resources archeological survey done at the site in 2022, as well as review the survey process and why they are done in the first place.
  • A walking tour and discussion at the Boones Landing site — something made possible by the low river levels at this time of year.
  • The Wilsonville Historical Society will offer a historic overview of the area & the impact of the landing site on the community’s history.
  • City of Wilsonville Parks and Recreation Program Manager, Brian Stevenson, discussing the Boones Ferry Park Master Plan and current work being done to improve river access at the park.

Refreshments will be served after the event and the Wilsonville Historical Society will have information available on the history of the landing area, as well as Boones Ferry’s 107-year history in our community.

The event will be held at Boones Ferry Park & Tauchman House (31240 SW Boones Ferry Rd, Wilsonville, OR 97070). It is open to the public for free and will proceed rain or shine.

Event information and updates can also be found at: www.wilsonvillehistory.org or you can reply to this email with questions. Feel free to forward this invitation.

We look forward to seeing you October 26th!
