Celebration of Celtic Cultures:
An evening of harp musicfeaturing Laura Zaerr
Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at 7 pm
18005 S. Gronlund Rd., Oregon City/Carver
In the Pioneer Church at the historic Baker Cabin site
Join us for an inclusive celebration of Celtic Cultures through the language of plucked strings. Harpist, teacher and composer Laura Zaerr will share an evening of beautiful music demonstrating the amazing voice of the harp. Equally at home with pedal or celtic harps, Laura’s selections will explore a wide range of musical traditions and eras.
She will play original compositions, some Jazz standards (yes, quite possible on the harp) as well as traditional jigs and airs in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. In addition, she will sing Gaelic songs in keeping with the traditions of Scotland, and a fisherman’s prayer from the Shetlands.
She will also bring her wire string harp, based on the historic harp at Trinity College Dublin that is one of the best-known icons of Ireland. The powerful resonance of this bronze wire strung harp is mostly lost in the busy world of today. In addition, she will sing some Gaelic songs in keeping with the traditions of Scotland, and a fisherman’s prayer from the Shetlands. Laura travels throughout the Northwest giving workshops and concerts – we are truly honored to be able to bring her to Carver.
