Milwaukie Museum presents: Northwest China Council at Ledding Library

Milwaukie Historical Society with its partners City of Milwaukie, Ledding Library, Willamette Falls Studio, and Northwest China Council (NWCC) are proud to present our Ledding Library Lecture Series: Chinese Immigrants: Contributions and Exclusion. The lecture will be held live at Ledding Library October 4th at 6pm. If you are unable to join the audience, watch live on Zoom, or enjoy the program later on Milwaukie Heritage You Tube Channel or Comcast channel 30.
Chinese Immigrants: Contributions and Exclusion is constructed to teach our fellow residents about the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and its impacts it had to our local Chinese population. We will also focus on two Milwaukie Chinese legends, Ah Bing and Si Sing and their contributions to our shared history, plus NWCC role and impact to the regional and global Chinese relationship.
Our keynote speaker, Janet Lee, Secretary and Director for the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) and Vice President of the Portland Lee’s Family Association will educate us on the Exclusion Act and Jim Mockford and David Kohl will discuss NWCC. We will also have a special address by Milwaukie Council President Desi Nicodemus and a greeting by Susanna Pai.
Please join us on Wednesday October 4th 6pm at Ledding Library located at 10660 SE 21st Ave. Milwaukie, OR 97222 or via Zoom by visiting www.milwaukieoregon.gov and finding the link on the City’s calendar.
